A lot of American Bully breeders have an extraordinary eye for the Bully breed. Many of them buy imported dogs from all over the globe and have bred a numerous number of dogs and have established a good name for themselves in the bully community. The only dilemma they had as breeders was that the didn’t create or establish a BLOODLINE for themselves. The dogs they bred could not be recognized as a production from their kennels because they looked like a carbon-copy of the dogs they imported from previous breeders.
The reason for this was that, while they had an extraordinary eye, they only bred the dogs they bought and their offspring, they never bred beyond that by producing and creating a second generation of dogs. They never bred for the same characteristics across generations and as a result their dogs in their kennels looked indistinguishable.
The dilemma is that their entire kennel never built a name for itself because they never consistently produced a certain type of dog. They couldn’t boast about their lines because they didn’t really create them. All of their marketing was persuading people to buy their dogs based on the reputation of the breeders they bought those dogs from, not because of them. This meant they could never sell their dogs for the same price as what they bought them for, and definitely not higher.
People only bought their dogs because they were good, convenient and from good bloodlines at a cheaper price, and usually their buyers were in driving distance.
